The Columbus Area Arts Council presents the final Anti-Freeze Performance Series with Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater on Saturday, March 6 at 7pm at North High School Erne Theater.
Fred Garbo and Brazilian ballerina Daielma Santos begin their concert with a ten-foot cylinder slithering on the stage before it implodes. Garbo said, “Before long, the entire audience will be playing catch with our huge inflatable props. Our gigantic blow-up shapes dance, shimmer, balloon, deflate and bounce in a rainbow of colors. When the audience least expects it, a globulating red cube takes on a life of its own, rolling, gliding and tumbling in synch to the music, right up to the edge of the stage. “
“This show is anything but a run-of-the-mill performance,” said Donna Stouder of the Arts Council. “It’s visual, kinetic and very funny.” The audience will get to participate in the finale and then Garbo always ends his show with “That’s it. Go crazy or go home.”
Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater is suitable for the entire family. “With all the cold and dreary weather, we’re hoping families will take a break from school closings and shoveling snow and enjoy one of the most unique performances we have ever brought to Columbus,” Stouder added.
Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 the day of the show. Children 12 years and under are $10. Tickets can be purchased at Viewpoint Book Store at 548 Washington Street, at the Arts Council office at 417 3rd Street or on line at www.artsincolumbus.org.
The Columbus Area Arts Council is a public, not-for-profit corporation supported by private donations, the City of Columbus, the State of Indiana through the Indiana Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
