About
Liberty Monthly is the area’s #1 independent monthly in Columbus Indiana with a distribution of 5,000 copies in 50 different locations. Founded in August of 2008, Liberty Monthly helps to fill an independent niche in the Columbus Indiana area by providing information about art, entertainment, recreation and food.
Things people have been asking me, Addison Overfelt, about Liberty Monthly and the answers I normally give:
So, what is the paper all about?
Liberty Monthly is a local independent paper that includes art, entertainment, recreation and food related articles along with a collection of events that occur in the area.
So, this is not connected with Liberty Tree News at all?
Nope, not at all! Liberty Tree News held a more conservative view then Liberty Monthly does. The definition of liberty, freedom of choice, seemed like a fitting name and I thought the re-branding exercise would pose some interesting challenges.
Why is it free?
Liberty Monthly is supported by the advertisers in each issue. Support your local businesses who in turn help with the printing and distribution costs of Liberty Monthly.
Where is it distributed?
Currently the 5,000 monthly copies are placed at 50 different locations around Columbus during the first week of each month.
Are there any left over papers? if so, what do you do with them?
At the end of the month I normally pick up a small stack, around 300 papers. The leftover papers go into one of the local nonprofit newspaper recycle bins.
Can anyone advertise?
Sure, anyone can advertise. Advertising is recommended to anyone who wants to reach 5,000 interesting, independent thinking adults.
Mission:
Provide our readership with an independent review/listing of local entertainment and other areas of interest without bias or agenda.
Circulation: 5,000
Our distribution sites are results oriented, so we change our sites and quantities based on the monthly results of each location. Nearly 95% of our papers are taken home and read each month with the remaining papers going to local recycling efforts! You will find us in 50 locations throughout the Columbus/Bartholomew County area. You can find a copy in local hair salons, health clinics, bars, restaurants, stores, and other exciting locations. Keep an eye out - you never know what you’ll find in Liberty Monthly.
